Education Minister Dipu Moni has said cultural activists played a great role in achieving Bangladesh’s independence and flourishing its democracy.

"Culture and education are deeply related. We have to keep our rich culture alive — cultural activists contributed to achieving Bangladesh’s independence and flourishing its democracy," she said.

The education minister said this while inaugurating a five-day long "Gate opening festival" at Sufiaful Monch in Taslima-Jalal Monchobari at Golaidanga village in Singair upazila of Manikganj as the chief guest Wednesday evening.

She said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working to spread peace all over the country and she was recognised as the leader of humanity all over the world.

The function was also addressed by lawmaker Momotaz Begom and Monchakusum Shimul Yousuf among others.
