Cyclone Amphan: Shipping Ministry opens control room

The Shipping Ministry on Wednesday (May 20) launched a control room to deal with various issues centring Cyclone Amphan.

The control room central number is 9546072, said a press release.

It started operating at 8 am today and will be open at a stretch till 10 pm on May 22.

Cyclone Amphan is set to make landfall on the coast bordering India and Bangladesh this evening, with winds predicted at up to 200 kph to 220 kph wind speeds at its centre.

The maritime ports of Mongla and Payra have been advised to hoist great danger signal number 10 while Chattogram and Cox's Bazar have been advised to hoist great danger signal number 9.
