Bangladesh witnessed a sharp decline in its daily Covid-19 fatalities as 41 people died of the virus in the 24 hours till 8:00 am on Thursday, which is the lowest daily count in five weeks, according to a release issued by the Director General of Health Services.

With the new deaths, the death toll from the virus rose to 11,796 in the country.

Besides, 1,822 people tested Covid-19 positive during the same period taking the caseloads to 769,160.

The number of recoveries rose to 702,163 with 3,698 people got cured from the disease in the 24 hours taking the rate of recoveries to 91.29, said the DGHS.

The rate of positivity now stands at 13.78 per cent with death rate 1.53 per cent.

Bangladesh is currently observing a nationwide lockdown that began from April 14 and was extended afterwards in several phases, to tackle a second wave of the virus pandemic.
