Bangladesh reported 101 COVID-19 deaths in the last 24 hours till 8:00am on Friday, which is the highest ever single-day tally since the pandemic hit the country.
With the new deaths, the fatalities from the virus rose to 10,182, Directorate General of Health Services said in a press release.
Besides, 4,417 people tested positive for the virus during the same period, taking the total number of infections to 711,779, it said.
In Bangladesh, the death toll from the deadly virus crossed 1000-mark on Thursday with 94 deaths overnight.
The country is currently observing a week-long blanket lockdown from April 14 to tackle a second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
