Daily Covid deaths reach 41

Bangladesh on Thursday recorded 41 deaths and another new 7,264 cases of Covid-19.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in the last 24 hours, the country’s daily test positivity rate slightly declined at 16.95 per cent

The total death toll from the deadly virus in the country is now 28,744.

Bangladesh’s total number of positive cases now stands at 18,94,535 since the country first detected Covid patient on March 8, 2020.

On Wednesday, the positivity rate was at 18.83 per cent.

The daily case positivity rate reached its peak of 33.37 per cent on January 28 this year. The country also saw highest 43 deaths on February 8.

Health authorities reported the latest figures after testing 42,867 samples at 871 laboratories across the country. Bangladesh has so far tested 1,28,98,009 samples.

Meanwhile, 11,046 patients recovered from the deadly infection in the last 24 hours, raising the overall recovery to 16,44,628.

Among the new deceased, 27 were men and 14 women.

Twenty-two deaths were reported in the Dhaka division, six in Chattogram, five in Rajshahi, three each in Khulna and Rangpur.
