Deputy commissioner of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Md Mizanur Rahman died early Monday while undergoing treatment at Rajarbagh Central Police Hospital (CPH) in the city for Covid-19.
Md Saiful Islam, additional superintendent of police (administration) of Rajarbagh Central Police Hospital, confirmed the matter to The Business Post, adding that Mizanur breathed his last at 3:41 am Monday.
Mizanur, who joined the police force through the 22nd BCS, was admitted to the hospital in the capital on June 28 after being diagnosed with Covid-19. He had been receiving treatment there since.
So far, a total of five members of CMP died from the coronavirus infection while performing duties to protect the people from the pandemic.
