Vehicles owners can update their expired fitness, tax-token and route permit papers within September 16 without paying any fines as the papers will be valid till then, said a government notification.
The Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) extended the deadline in a notification on Wednesday, after miscreants torched, vandalised and looted their headquarters in the capital’s Banani area on July 18 and 19 during the quota reform movement that turned violent.
During the attack, server and other equipment used to update papers and conduct fitness tests were damaged, halting all services related to vehicle fitness, tax-token, route permit, driving license, registration of vehicles.
Owners who are supposed to update their papers on July 19, 2024 and those who were scheduled to do that by September 15 will get a time extension until September 16, says the notification.
