The death toll has risen to 22, including women and children, in the capsize of a passenger-carrying trawler in Bijaynagar upazila of Brahmanbaria.
The body of Nasran, a three-year-old child, was recovered Saturday morning, said Toufiqul Islam Bhuiyan, deputy assistant of Brahmanbaria fire service.
The other deceased were identified as Takua, 8, daughter of Abdullah, Arif Billah, 20, Manju Begum, 60, Farida Begum, 40, Munni Begum, 6, Minara Begum, 42, Anjana Biswas, 30, Tridiba Biswas, 3, Kamala Begum, 45, Momena Begum, 55, Kajla Begum, 35, Tasfia Meem, 12, Tanvir, 8, Sajim, 7, Sharmin, 18, Jharna Begum, 55, Mahida Akter, 5, Sirajul Islam, 58, Rabuna Begum, 40 and Sajid, 3.
The recovered bodies were sent to 250-bed Brahmanbaria general hospital. From there the bodies were handed over to the relatives.
The incident took place at around 5:15pm on Friday afternoon at Laiska Canal in Pattan union of the upazila.
Local said that the trawler with more than 100 passengers left for Anandabazar Ghat of Sadar upazila from Champaknagar Ghat of Bijaynagar upazila around 4:30pm.
Brahmanbaria Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge Emranul Islam said a rescue operation is being conducted to find any more survivors.
Meanwhile, police detained five people, including the boatman of the sand-laden trawler in connection with the accident.
Locals caught the boatman and two helpers of the trawler from Bijaynagar upazila's Char Islampur union on Friday night and handed them over to the police.
