30 patients died from Covid-19 in the country over the last 24 hours as of Friday, taking the death toll to 811. Besides, 2,828 more people tested positive for the virus, which makes 60,391 confirmed cases in total.
Additional Director General (Admin) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr Nasima Sultana revealed the information at a regular online briefing on Friday afternoon.
Dr Nasima mentioned that a total of 14,645 samples were collected and 14,088 tested in the last 24 hours. So far, a total of 372,365 samples have been tested in the country.
With 643 new recoveries, a total of 12,804 patients recovered from coronavirus till date.
The deceased, of whom 23 were males and seven females, belonged to the following age groups: three were between 31-40 years, seven were between 41-50, 11 aged between 51-60, six between 61-70, two between 71-80, and one was between 81-90 years.
17 breathed their last while undergoing treatment at various hospitals while 13 died at home.
Under division-wise categorisation, 11 hailed from the Dhaka division, 12 from Chattogram, two from Rajshahi, one from Barishal, three from Sylhet and one from the Rangpur division.
Meanwhile, global deaths from the novel coronavirus infection reached 391,136 as of Thursday morning, according to the data by Johns Hopkins University.
So far, 6,601,349 cases have been confirmed around the world after Covid-19, the disease caused by the new strain of coronavirus, was first reported in China in December last year.
Although cases of new infection keep growing among the infected world population currently, most of them are in mild condition.
Among the currently 3,055,771 infected patients, 3,000,311 are in mild condition, which is 98 percent, Worldometer records in its daily updates. On the other hand, 55,460 of the currently infected patients are in serious condition, and their percentage is only two.
So far, 2,869,963 people have recovered.
