Extension of the ongoing lockdown to halt spread of COVID-19 would depend on the infection rate and any decision in this regard is likely to come on Thursday, senior government officials said on Monday.
Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services Abul Bashar M Khurshid Alam, while visiting Manikganj General Hospital in the morning, told journalists that any extension of the lockdown would depend on the infection rate of COVID-19.
Cabinet secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam at a press briefing after the cabinet meeting at Cabinet Division said that any decision regarding extension of ongoing lockdown would come on Thursday.
Health directorate director general Khurshid Alam in Manikganj also called on everyone to remain conscious and abide by all the 18 health guidelines issued by the Prime Minister's Office.
He also said that violators of the health guidelines would face punishment and local administration would take steps in this regard.
He said that the health ministry would conduct an awareness campaign on COVID-19 to across the country with the help of the information ministry.
