The death toll of dengue-related death raises to 19 as the country has recorded one more fatality in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, some 135 people were hospitalised with the viral infection on Sunday over the same period of time.

So far, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has reported 19 deaths from the mosquito-borne viral disease – a leading cause of serious illness and death in some Asian and Latin American countries.

The latest death was reported in Dhaka. Of all the deceased, 10 were from Cox's Bazar and nine from Dhaka.

Up to today, 116 new patients were admitted to different hospitals in Dhaka and 19 outside, the DGHS said.

Four hundred and fifty-four dengue patients, including 392 in the capital, are now receiving treatment at hospitals across the country.

On June 21, the DGHS reported the first death of the season from the viral disease. In July, it recorded 1,571 dengue cases and nine deaths.

This year, the directorate has recorded 4,480 dengue cases and 4,007 recoveries so far.
