Vehicular movement was halted for three and a half hours as dense fog caused 14-kilometre-long traffic congestion on Bangabandhu Bridge on Sunday morning.

Toll collection was suspended from 4:30am to 8am. It caused a long tailback from the eastern end of the bridge to Elenga in Tangail's Kalihati upazila.

“To avert accidents, toll collection on the bridge and highways was suspended,” Bangabandhu Bridge Executive Engineer Ahsan Masud Bappi said.

“However, around 8am the toll collection started again after the fog dissipated. Traffic movement is normal now,” he added.
