Train communication on Pabna-Ishwardi route has remained suspended since Monday morning as two bogies of Rajshahi-bound ‘Dhalarchar Express Train’ derailed in Ranigram area of Pabna district.
Train operator Hafizul Islam said that the derailment occurred around 7:20 am when wheels of two bogies of the train veered off the tracks between Kashinath-Badherhat stations in Ranigram.
He said lack of sufficient clips of the rail line caused the derailment and the lone train operating on the route.
Engineer Birbal Mandal of Pakshi Western Engineering Divisional-2 said a recuse train from a nearby locomotive diesel factory was on the way to the spot and will take time to remove.
A four-member committee led by the Assistant Transport Officer of Pakshi Divisional Railway Harun-Or-Rashid was formed to investigate the incident. It was asked to submit a report within three working days.
