The 'Dhaka Club President Cup Snooker Tournament 2024' began on Thursday with much excitement at the club's billiard room.
Dhaka Club President Ashrafuzzaman Khan Puton inaugurated the tournament, read a press release.
Puton, at his inaugural speech, reiterated the club's dedication to promoting excellence across diverse fields, including sports.
He highlighted the club's tradition of organising diverse events annually, emphasising his optimism for the seamless execution of this year's tournament.
The tournament, spanning seven days, guarantees intense competition with 40 skilled snooker players representing six clubs from Dhaka and another six from outside the capital. The grand finale is scheduled to take place on March 5, 2024, at the illustrious Billiard Room of the Dhaka Club.
The champion team of the tournament will be awarded a prestigious trophy and a generous cash prize of Tk 50,000 in acknowledgement of their outstanding skill and determination. Additionally, the runner-up team will receive a prize of 30 thousand taka along with a trophy.
Members of the Board of Directors, including Ashrafun Rahman, along with the Snooker Committee Convener Saidul Haque Majumdar, Co-Convener Tajbir Salehin, and the Snooker Committee Advisor AA Ibrahim Kazoo, among others, were present at the opening ceremony.
