The city dwellers have started leaving the capital in droves to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha with their loved ones in their native homes. Many of the homebound people journeyed early to avoid the rush and suffering ahead of Eid.

Railway stations and bus terminals have been crowded with passengers since Thursday morning. As it is a working day, many are sending their family members in advance. Apart from this, the crowd of students has also increased as the Eid vacation has started.

The pressure of passengers can be seen at the city’s Kamalapur Railway Station. Many passengers were seen standing on the platform due to a lack of seats, and waiting patiently for their trains.

The authorities said that this year's Eid journey would be easier as no one is allowed to enter the platform without a ticket.

Meanwhile, since early morning, the number of passengers has increased at all bus terminals including Mohakhali, Gabtali, and Sayedabad. Transport officials expect this crowd to increase in the afternoon.

It should be noted that traffic jams have appeared on the roads around the terminals due to increased passenger pressure.
