The Dhaka Elevated Expressway restarted toll collection from 3pm on Sunday, thereby resuming operations except for the two entry ramps at Banani and Mohakhali, and an exit ramp at FDC (Karwan Bazar) – as two toll plazas and one pillar there have been damaged.

Formal operations resumed through toll collection from vehicles at the Airport ramp from 3pm, confirmed Manager (Operations and Maintenance) Captain (retd) Hasib Hasan Khan of First Dhaka Elevated Expressway Company Ltd (FDEE).

On July 18, miscreants had set fire to the Banani Toll Booth, and the following day, they torched the Mohakhali Toll Booth too amid unrest surrounding the quota reform movement.

The expressway remained officially closed since July 18. However, after the Sheikh Hasina-led government fell on August 5, people began using the expressway without paying tolls, as the toll collection system was no longer in place.
