The trial run of a new bus service operating on Ghatarchar-Kanchpur route will start on December 1.

During the trial run, 210 new buses will ply on the 21km route under the Bus Route Rationalization programme with the title "Dhaka Nagar Paribahan."

Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, Dhaka South City Corporation mayor and president of the Bus Route Rationalization Committee, announced the trial run after the 18th meeting of the committee at DSCC Nagar Bhaban on Tuesday. 

He hoped that Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader and Rural Development Minister Md Tazul Islam will inaugurate the trial run on December 1.

"After a successful trial on this route, we will start the remaining routes of this cluster in phases," he said.

The DSCC mayor said no bus bought before January 1, 2019, will be allowed to run on this route, adding, fresh new buses will join the fleet, adds BSS.

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam said the drivers and helpers of these buses will have separate uniforms and more than 40 passenger stoppages and 16 bus bays will be installed on this route.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md Shafikul Islam, BRTA Chairman Nur Mohammad Mazumder, BRTC Chairman Md Tajul Islam and Rajuk chairman ABM Amin Ullah Nuri were present at the meeting, among others.
