Bangladesh and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will sign two important agreements on security cooperation and the "Route to Mecca" service to consolidate ties between the two countries.

Bangladesh and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will join hands to train police personnel, including women, Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen said after his meeting with Saudi Deputy Interior Minister Dr Nasser bin Abdulaziz Al Dawood at State guesthouse Padma on Saturday evening.

"I thought this is a new opening. Our women police are doing good. It's (such cooperation) good," he added.

The two sides also discussed labour issues and the import of LNG from the KSA at a cheaper price.

Momen mentioned that the Bangladesh government is working closely with Saudi Arabia to further strengthen cooperation in trade and investments, security, education and culture, power and energy, civil aviation and tourism.

"We had a very good discussion," Momen said.

The Saudi deputy minister highly appreciated the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s role in the steady economic development of Bangladesh.

The deputy minister briefed the foreign minister about the interest of Saudi Arabia in closer security cooperation between the two nations for common interests.

The foreign minister told Dr Nasser that the Bangladesh government and people are waiting to welcome the crown prince and prime minister of Saudi Arabia to Bangladesh soon.

The Saudi deputy minister expressed his gratitude to Momen for receiving him despite his busy schedule.

The foreign minister thanked the Saudi king, crown prince and prime minister of Saudi Arabia for their cordial support for strengthening ties between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia in multiple sectors.
