Dhaka tops in GPA-5, Jashore in pass rate

Students of the Dhaka Education Board (DEB) have secured the maximum number of highest Grade Point Average (GPA-5) in this year’s Secondary School Certificate and equivalent examinations.

A total of 49,290 students from the board secured GPA-5 in the SSC examinations while the Rajshahi Education Board secured second position in terms of GPA-5 recipients with 28,074 students, according to the results published on Sunday.

The third highest GPA-5 recipients were from Jashore Board with 20,762 students followed by Dinajpur Board with 18,105 students, Madrasah Board with 14,206 students, Mymensingh Board with 13,176 students, Cumilla Board with 12,100 students and Chattogram Board with 10,824 students, reports BSS.

Technical Education Board (TEB) had the lowest number of GPA-5s with 4,078 students while Barisal and Sylhet Education Boards did slightly better with 6,145 and 5,471 GPA-5 recipients respectively.

Meanwhile, in terms of pass rate, Jashore Education Board (JEB) has secured the top position among 11 education boards with 92.33 per cent pass rate while Sylhet Board witnessed the lowest pass rate of 73.35.

The pass rates of other boards are – 89.26 per cent in Rajshahi Board, 89.13 per cent in Barishal Board, 85 per cent in Mymensingh Board, 83.92 per cent in Dhaka Board, 82.80 per cent in Chattogram Board, 78.43 per cent in Dinajpur Board and 79.23 per cent in Cumilla Board.

Madrasah Board

The pass rate of Madrasah Board in the Dakhil examination this year is 79.66 per cent which was 74.7 in 2023 and 82.22 in 2022, according to the results published on Sunday.

A total of 14, 206 students obtained GPA -5 this year. Of them, 7,467 are female students and 6,739 are male.

Technical Education Board

The pass rate of the Technical Education Board in the Secondary School Certificate and equivalent examinations is 81.38 per cent while 4,078 students secured GPA-5.

Among the GPA-5 holders, 2,141 are female students while the number of male GPA-5 holder students is 1,937.
