Dhanmondi Society, a non-profit and apolitical organisation, announced its executive committee and held an introductory event at Dhanmondi on Monday.
President of Dhanmondi Society, Abu Mohammad Sabur, announced the 19-member committee, said a press release.
At the event, Abu Mohammad Sabur discussed the working structure and the goals of the organisation.
He pointed out the negative impacts of commercial activities, pollution and traffic in the Dhanmondi Residential Area and hoped that the formation of this forum will help Dhanmondi residents alleviate such general issues in association with the City Corporation and local representatives.
The organisation's president also emphasised that Dhanmondi Society would work towards developing parks, playgrounds, beautification projects and general security in Dhanmondi.
The organisation would also lead voluntary social work to help the underprivileged in Dhanmondi, he added.
General Secretary of Dhanmondi Society, Dr Musaddek Habib said that the forum would actively be involved in organising cultural and sporting events for the betterment of Dhanmondi residents
He also stated that the Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation, Barrister Fazle Noor Taposh, and the local ward councillor assured their cooperation to work side by side for the development of Dhanmondi.
The organisation has promised to work for the development and the general well-being of the residents of Dhanmondi with their newly formed committee, the release added.
Abu Mohammad Sabur (President), Engineer Mohammad Liakat Hossain (Vice President), Mohammad Monir Hossain (Vice President), Dr Musaddek Habib (General Secretary), A Kamal Onu (Joint Secretary) and fifteen other members were assigned to the executive committee.
