Diamond World Ltd has donated Tk 25 lakh to the fire-affected Bangabazar traders.
Dilip Kumar Agarwala, managing director of Diamond World, handed over a cheque for Tk 25 lakh to Bangladesh Dokan Malik Samity President Helal Uddin on Thursday.
Dilip Kumar said, “Like others, I am also shocked by the fire incident in Bangabazar. As a businessman, I have stood by the fire-affected traders. I call upon all businessmen to stand by them.”
Meanwhile, a bank account has been opened to support the fire-affected traders of Bangabazar.
Through the IFIC Bank Ltd savings account number (0200094066031), anyone can provide financial support from both home and abroad, Bangabazar Complex Dokan Malik Samity General Secretary Zahirul Islam said.
On April 4, a massive fire broke out at Bangabazar Complex and spread to some other nearby markets, burning down several thousand shops with mainly ready-made clothes and footwear.
On Wednesday, some affected traders resumed their business on the site by setting up makeshift stalls.
