Experts at a seminar on Saturday said that the regulations for social media, OTT and other digital platforms should be industry-friendly so that there remains no implementation of self-censorship.

They made the remark at the seminar titled “Regulation of Digital, Social Media & OTT Platforms: The Need to Strike the Right Balance” organised by FBCCI on Saturday at its auditorium in Dhaka.

A draft has already been done by the government to finalise the regulations on social media and OTT and digital platforms.

FBCCI President Jashim Uddin delivered the welcome speech while Barrister Rashna Imam presented the keynote paper at the event.

The BongoBD Co-founder and Director Navidul Huq said the regulations should be industry supportive.

"We are taking a lot of benefits from digital activities. The digital system increased our activists. It also created a lot of employment," Navidul added.

Among others, the Minister for Post, Telecommunications and Information Technology Mustafa Jabbar attended the seminar as the Chief Guest, while the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Secretary Mokbul Hossain attended as the Special Guest.
