A legal notice has been served on Monday on the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) President Oli Ahmad for his statements terming BNP founder Major Ziaur Rahman as the first provisional head of the state during an interview on 17 August 2020.
Confirming the matter to The Business Post on Monday, Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Imtiaz Uddin Ahmad Asif said, “I sent the legal notice today in this regard”.
The notice said that Oli Ahmad statements are not only false and distortion of historical facts but also in contradiction with the proclamation of Independence of the Mujibnagar Government on the 10th April 1971 set out in the Seventh Schedule of the Constitution of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.
The legal notice also said that Oli Ahmad’s statements in the interview are the clear distortion of historical facts of Bangladesh to cause confusion, division and discord amongst the people of Bangladesh.
The legal notice further said that if he does not withdraw his statement within 15 days legal actions will be taken against him under the applicable law of Bangladesh.
