DJAB gets a new committee

The Defense Journalists Association of Bangladesh (DJAB) has gotten a new committee for two years.

The Daily Shomoyer Alo Head of News Alamgir Hossain and The Bangladesh Post Senior Reporter Ahamed Ullah have been elected as the new president and general secretary of this new committee respectively.

The DJAB is a professional organisation comprising journalists who specialise in the armed forces and defense beat reporting in Bangladesh.

The election of the DJAB executive committee was held at a restaurant in the capital on Tuesday following the Annual General Meeting (AGM).

After the voting process, Chief Election Commissioner of the DJAB Election Management Committee and the President of Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) Syed Shukur Ali Shuvo officially announced the new committee.

Two other election commissioners, Aktar Hossain, General Secretary of the Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ), and Muhammad Jahangir Alam, Vice President of the outgoing committee of DJAB, were present.

The other members of the 13-member DJAB Executive Committee are Tariqul Islam Masoom of Channel I as vice president, Kazi Shohag of Daily Manabzamin as joint general secretary, Jamal Uddin of BanglaTribune as finance secretary, Meraz Mizu of Desh Tv as organising secretary, Ismail Hossain Emu of The Daily Ajkaler Khobor as office secretary, Kamal Hossain Talukder of bdnews24.com as publicity and publication secretary, Ali Asif Shawon of Dhaka Tribune as Research and Training secretary, Sazzad Mahmud Khan of Daily Amader Shomoy as sports and cultural secretary and the three executive members are MM Badsha of Bangla TV, Arifur Rahman Rabbi of The Business Post and Rakibul Hasan of My TV respectively.

Founded with the aim of fostering excellence in defense journalism and promoting transparency and accountability in matters related to national security, DJAB serves as a platform for journalists to exchange knowledge, collaborate on stories, and advocate for press freedom in the realm of defense reporting since 2014.

Alamgir Hossain, the newly elected president, previously held the post of general secretary of DJAB for two terms, and newly elected General Secretary Ahamed Ullah was the organizing secretary of the outgoing Committee.
