DMP commissioner pays homage to Bangabandhu at Tungipara

Newly appointed Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Habibur Rahman on Sunday paid rich tributes to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing a wreath at his Mausoleum in Tungipara, Gopalganj.

After laying the wreath, the DMP chief stood in solemn silence for some time as a mark of profound respect to the memory of Bangabandhu, the architect of the independence.

The DMP commissioner offered Fateha and prayed for eternal peace for the departed soul of Bangabandhu and other family members, who had to face martyrdom on the fateful night of August 15, 1975.

He also paid tributes to national four leaders and the martyrs, who sacrificed their lives during the Liberation War in 1971.

The DMP chief also signed the visitors' book there.

Additional Police Commissioners AKM Hafiz Akhter, Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman, Munibur Rahman, M Asaduzzaman and Harun-Ar Rashid, Gopalganj Police Super Al Belly Afifa, Gopalganj district Awami League president Mahbub Ali Khan, General Secretary GM Shahbuddin Azam, Upazila Awami League Vice-President M Illius Hossain, General Secretary Babul Sheikh, President of Poura unit of Awami League Sheikh Saiful Islam and other high police officials, among others, were present.

Earlier, the Home Ministry issued a notification on September 20 and posted Habibur Rahman as DMP's 36th Commissioner replacing outgoing Commissioner Khandker Golam Faruq.
