Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 54 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs during the on-going anti-narcotics drives from the capital in the last 24 hours till 6am on Saturday.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Deputy Commissioner (DC-media) Walid Hossain confirmed the matter on Saturday.
During the drives, police recovered 1,017 pieces of contraband methamphetamine tablets, 182 grams 409 puria of heroin, 9 kg 565 gram 60 puria hemp, 85 bottles of Phensedyl and 19 bottle 5 litre wine from their possessions, said Walid Hossain.
A total of 41 cases were filed with different police stations under the Narcotics Control Act in these regards.
