DNCC cancels leaves to deal with waterlogging, mosquito control

The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) cancelled all leaves for its master roll workers including employees of concerned departments until further notice to deal with the issues of waterlogging, mosquito control and waste management in the city in order to deal with the dengue outbreak.

An office order in this regard was issued following a decision taken at an emergency meeting held on Monday at the Dhaka North Nagar Bhaban in the capital’s Gulshan.

DNCC Mayor Md Atiqul Islam said, “Dengue outbreaks occur during the monsoon season, so the leave of all concerned officials and employees has been cancelled to prevent dengue from spreading in the city.”

“The rainwater has accumulated in many places in the city due to continuous heavy rains and workers have been ordered to be in the field round the clock to relieve the people by clearing the waterlogging,” he added.

To deal with dengue, the mayor urged city dwellers to make sure that no water accumulates in any container inside the house, on the roof, or the balcony.

Atiq also requested city people not to throw polythene and other items into drains as it blocks the flow of water.
