DNCC, DSCC remove animal waste in 8-12hrs

The two city corporations of Dhaka, DNCC and DSCC, proudly announced the successful removal of 100 per cent of sacrificial waste within a remarkable timeframe of 8 to 12 hours.

Both mayors expressed their gratitude to everyone involved, including the city dwellers, for their cooperation.

DNCC and DSCC shared this accomplishment separately with journalists on Thursday and Saturday. To ensure the timely disposal of sacrificial waste, DNCC organised a mid-day meal for the dedicated cleaners on Saturday.

DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam addressed reporters in Mirpur on Thursday, stating, “With the cooperation of everyone, we have achieved the complete removal of sacrificial waste from Dhaka North City within the announced eight hours. This accomplishment has been made possible through the sincere collaboration of conscious citizens.”

He revealed that 11,000 workers were actively involved in removing approximately 14,500 tonnes of waste through 2,713 trips in 10 regions of DNCC.

The mayor personally visited various regions and directly supervised the sacrificial waste disposal operations.

Following the official inauguration, he visited the Manipur area and then proceeded to observe the waste management activities in Uttara, including Agargaon, Mohammadpur, Farmgate, Moghbazar, Madhubagh, Rampura, Khilgaon, and Pragati Sarani.

In addition, DSCC Chief Executive Officer Mizanur Rahman informed reporters on Saturday that DSCC had efficiently removed 17,247.63 tons of waste in the next 48 hours following Eid day, utilizing 3,338 trips.

He added, “We were instructed to complete the removal of sacrificial waste within 24 hours. Thanks to our extensive preparation and action plan, we were able to accomplish this goal on the first day of Eid within 10 to 12 hours.”

He said that DSCC utilised 350 vehicles and engaged 10,000 workers in the field to expedite the waste removal process. He also mentioned that DSCC successfully managed ten sacrificial animal markets and prepared the National Eidgah.
