Dhaka North City Corporation has announced that it will use drones to find breeding grounds of Aedes mosquito in a 10-day operation starting July 2.

“It is difficult and time-consuming to locate the breeding spots of Aedes mosquito on the roof or balcony by entering every house in the city. Therefore, this time we will use drones to find out the sources of Aedes larvae. The DNCC will conduct a ten-day operation using drones from next Saturday,” DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam said while inspecting mosquito source detection activities using drones in Uttara Sector-4 on Thursday.

"From July 2 to 11, we will conduct an operation to find out the sources of mosquito breeding in every house under the Dhaka North through sophisticated drones ."

“The city corporation will create a database of houses where mosquito larvae will be found, and the data will be useful in the mosquito eradication programme next year,’’ he added.

Meanwhile, he called upon the health department, hospitals, and patients in the capital to provide accurate information regarding dengue.

Atiqul also requested dengue victims to provide their correct addresses and ensured that authorities will not penalise them.

DNCC Chief Health Officer Brigadier General Jobaidur Rahman and other senior officials were present on the occasion along with others.
