Monjur Mohammad Shahriar, the deputy director of Directorate of National Consumers' Right Protection's Dhaka divisional office tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
Shahriar himself confirmed the matter to media.
He said he is now in home quarantine.
Shahriar added he went for Covid-19 test at a private hospital after feeling unwell with fever and cold since Monday night.
Ignoring the risks of coronavirus infection, Shahriar was conducting mobile court drives regularly to keep prices of daily essentials under control.
