A team of the Department of National Consumers Right Protection (DNCRP) has unearthed a fake sanitary napkin factory in the city on Tuesday.
DNCRP Deputy Director Hassan Al Maruf said they conducted a drive in Baya Baliadanga area under Paba upazila in the district and found the factory manufacturing unhygienic sanitary napkins and pads.
They also found the factory functioning unlawfully and without permission of any legal authority. The napkins were being manufactured with substandard cotton, and abandoned clothes.
Maruf said the produced napkins are totally harmful to female health.
Subsequently, the DNCRP team fined the factory owner Tk 80,000 for the irregularities, he added.
Earlier on October 19 last, the DNCRP detected another fake sanitary napkin manufacturing factory at Terakhadia Mathurdanga area under Rajpara Police Station in the city and fined the factory owner Tk 20,000.
