The Department of Environment (DoE) has fined four factories in four districts Tk 4.30 lakh for polluting the environment.
Following hearing, DoE Director (Monitoring and Enforcement) Rubina Ferdous slapped the fine on Tuesday, said a DoE handout on Wednesday (July 15).
The factories are Nitol Cement Mills Ltd at Abhaynagar in Jashore, Contech Construction Ltd at Jibannagar in Chuadanga, Oimex Electrodes Ltd at Daulatpur in Kushtia, and Parvez Agrochemical Ltd at Kotchandpur in Jhenaidah.
Of these, the fourth factory was fined Tk 1.30 lakh, while the rest three were fined Tk one lakh and the fourth one Tk 1.30 lakh.
