The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) has decided to continue the operations of domestic flights, carrying only international passengers.

CAAB on Thursday announced its revised decision in a directive issued by AKM Faizul Haque, Director (Air Transportation) of the CAAB's Flight Standards and Regulations Division.

The aviation authority earlier announced the suspension of all domestic flights in Bangladesh from July 1-7 in line with the government directive regarding the nationwide Covid-19 lockdown starting from Thursday.

The directive said the decision came considering inconveniences of international passengers travelling from different parts of Bangladesh.

Scheduled domestic flights of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, US Bangla Airlines and Novo Air will continue carrying international passengers only, it said.

Directing airlines to issue domestic flight tickets only to passengers having international air tickets, the directive added that documents and proof of their international flight shall further be checked during their check-in and boarding in the flight.

All flights must maintain strict health guidelines and maintain social distancing procedures for passengers, crew, equipment and aircraft, said the directive.

To curb Covid-19 infection in the country, the government has imposed a weeklong strict lockdown throughout the country that started on July 1.
