Interim government Chief Advisor Dr Muhammad Yunus will visit the home of Abu Sayeed – a student of Begum Rokeya University’s English department, who was killed during the anti-quota protest organised by the Boishommo Birodhi Chhatra Andolan.

Dr Yunus will go to Sayeed's house in Pirganj, Rangpur by helicopter around 9am on Saturday. Later, he plans to meet the family of Abu Sayeed and visit his grave, said Rangpur Additional Deputy Commissioner Habibul Hasan Rumi.

On July 16, protesting students took a procession from Rangpur's Khamar Mor around 2pm and went in front of the university's gate number 1. They were chaining different slogans. The students tried to enter the campus, but were stopped by the police. A clash ensued soon after.

At one point, the police fired about 200 bullets and rubber bullets. Abu Sayeed, a 12th batch student of the English department of the university, was killed by the police during the violence.

Sayeed is the son of Moqbul Hossain, a resident of Babonpur in Pirganj Upazila of Rangpur.
