Gonoshasthaya Kendra founder and freedom fighter Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury was laid to eternal rest on the organisation premises in Savar, after a namaz-e-janaza following Jummah prayers on Friday.
In the morning, the body of Zafrullah was taken to the organisation’s PHA ground where people from all walks of life paid their last respects to him till 12:30pm.
Later, a namaz-e-janaza was held at the ground around 2:30pm.
On Thursday, Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury was given a guard of honour by the state at the Central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka around 12:30pm. His body was taken to the Shaheed Minar from the mortuary of BIRDEM around 10am, and people from all walks of life paid their tribute.
The Gonoshasthaya Kendra founder passed away on Tuesday night. He was 81. He breathed his last around 11pm at Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital in Dhaka.
