Health condition of founder and trustee of the Gonoshasthaya Kendra (GK) Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury, who earlier tested positive for coronavirus, has deteriorated further, said a post on GK’s verified Facebook page on Friday (today) morning.
The post at 10:40am reads: "Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury is now undergoing treatment at his own hospital under the supervision of Brigadier (Retd) Dr Mamun Mustafi and Professor Dr Nazib."
"We believe, Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury will get well soon and continue working towards his dream of building a prosperous Bangladesh," read the post.
Earlier at 7:30am, another Facebook post on the GK’s verified page announced that Zafrullah’s physical condition had deteriorated since last night.
The post read: "Please keep Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury in your prayers. His physical condition is not good. He had shortness of breath during (last) night. He needs your thoughts and prayers."
While talking to The Business Post around 10:00am, Gonoshasthaya’s public relations officer Md Farhad said though Dr Zafrullah had suffered from respiratory problems last night, he was comparatively better in the morning.
Zafrullah is currently undergoing plasma therapy treatment for the second time at the Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital, an institution he founded, after being tested positive for Covid-19 on May 25.
He also underwent dialysis for the third time on the night of May 30.
Moreover, his wife Shirin Haque and son Barish also tested positive for Covid-19.
