Condolences and tributes continue to pour in at the death of noted public health expert and valiant freedom fighter Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury.

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen on Wednesday expressed profound shock and sorrow at his death.

Momen, who now on an official visit to the USA, in a condolence message prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.

Recalling his contribution to founding of the Gonoshasthaya Kendra (GK), the first private hospital in independent Bangladesh, the foreign minister said, “Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury had worked whole life to make the health care easier for the common people.”

Zafrullah, also a leading civil society figure, breathed his last around 11:35pm on Tuesday while undergoing treatment at Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital at the age of 81.

 

President mourns death of 1971 War veteran

President M Abdul Hamid has expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Gonoshasthaya Kendra founder and Liberation War veteran Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury.

In a condolence message, the Head of State prayed for eternal peace of his departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family.

 

Dr Zafrullah’s contribution to public healthcare unforgettable

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed deep condolences and sorrow over the death of Gonoshasthaya Kendra founder and freedom fighter Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury.

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) press wing issued a statement on Wednesday in this regard.

“The nation will remember Dr Zafrullah’s contributions to the Liberation War of Bangladesh, the pharma industry and public healthcare,” read the statement.

Sheikh Hasina prayed for Dr Zafrullah’s departed soul, and expressed condolences to his bereaved family members.

Meanwhile, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has expressed deep shock and grief at the death of Gonoshasthaya Kendra founder and freedom fighter Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury.

In a message of condolence, the minister prayed for his departed soul and expressed his deepest condolences to the bereaved family.

Information and Broadcasting Minister and Awami League Joint General Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud today expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of Swadhinata Padak recipient and valiant freedom fighter Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury.

In a message of condolence, the minister recalled the outstanding contribution of Zafrullah, who established the Field Hospital in 1971, the architect of 1982's National Drug Policy and the founder of Gonoshasthaya Kendra.

Hasan, who is now on an official visit in Europe, prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
