A bus driver was killed and two others were injured as a bus fell into a roadside ditch after hitting an electric pole in Gazipur's Sreepur upazila early Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Mofizul Islam, 30, son of the late Abdul Hossain Ali of Sohadia village in Sreepur upazila. However, the detailed identities of injured Maruf and Sajib could not be known yet.
The accident occurred around 6:45am when the bus carrying workers of 'Smart Factory' hit an electric pole and fell into the roadside ditch near the Sohadia (Naljura Bridge) area on the Mauna-Bormi regional road of Bormi union, said Aminul Islam, sub-inspector of Sreepur police station.
"The driver died on the spot," he said.
Locals rescued Maruf and Sajib and sent them to Sreepur Upazila Health Complex.
Police recovered the body from the scene.
Asma Khatun, a doctor at the Health Complex, said the injured were sent to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital for better treatment.
