An alleged drug peddler was killed in a reported gunfight with the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in the capital’s Dakshinkhan area early Wednesday (July 22).
The deceased was identified as Ripon, 35, accused in 16 narcotics cases filed with various police stations in Dhaka, according to RAB.
RAB-1 company commander ASP Md Salauddin confirmed the matter to the Business Post. As the gunfight ended, one of them was found with injuries and was rushed to Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital where physicians pronounced him dead.
A pistol, a one-shooter gun, five rounds of bullet and 1,937 pieces of yaba pills were recovered from the spot, said the RAB official.
