A Dhaka court on Wednesday rejected a bail petition to photojournalist Shafiqul Islam Kajol in a case filed under the Digital Security Act in Kamrangirchar Police Station in March.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Baki Billah rejected the plea after a virtual hearing.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Md Showkat Ali, general recording officer of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court Dhaka, confirmed the information to The Business Post.
Barrister Jyotirmoy Barua filed the bail petition on behalf Kajol on July 28.
Kajol was shown arrested on July 27 in the case filed by Bangladesh Jubo Mahila League's Central Committee member Sumaiya Chowdhury Banna on March 11.
Three separate cases were filed against the photojournalist with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Kamrangirchar, and Hazaribagh police stations under the DSA in March.
