A Dhaka University (DU) student has reportedly been abducted by some armed miscreants in Sajek of Baghaichhari Upazila in Rangamati.
The student has been identified as Dipita Chakma, 25, daughter of Shitendra Bikash Chakma, a resident of Khagrachhari Sadar.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) of Rangamati Abdul Awal said Dipita, a student of masters in the Department of Public Administration of DU, was travelling to Sajek with her friends from Khagrachhari on Wednesday.
A group of unidentified armed miscreants intercepted their vehicle on Dighinala-Sajek road in Sergeant Kamal Chattar area of Shijokchara at around 12pm and abducted her, he said.
The miscreants let the Bengali friends of Dipita go but only abducted her, ASP Awal added. A rescue operation was underway, he said.
