A student of the Bangla Department of Dhaka University from the 2016-17 academic session apparently committed suicide in Salimullah Muslim Hall (SM Hall) on Monday.
The police recovered the hanging body of Manjurul Islam from his room (no 165) around 6:30pm. He hailed from Gopalganj district.
Students from the adjoining rooms said that he committed suicide out of frustration as he was suffering from family problems and academic lapses.
DU Proctor Prof Makshudur Rahman said they visited the scene of the incident. He said the police were working on the next course of action following the sad incident.
“The police are cooperating with us,” he added.
