A student of Dhaka University lodged a complaint against the former state minister for information and broadcasting Md Murad Hassan with Shahbagh police station in the capital on Tuesday.

Officer-in-Charge of the police station Maudut Hawlader said Murad Hassan made remarks demeaning Dhaka University and its female students.

Julius Caesar Talukder, a student of the university, filed a written complaint regarding the matter, he said.

"We have filed a general diary based on the complaint. It will be sent to the Cyber Crime Division,” the OC added.

In his complaint, Julius said that a video clip of Murad Hassan on social media contained perverted sexual and hate speech.

Murad, in the video, neglected the oldest and traditional school of the country intentionally and attempted to character assassination of the female students of the university.

And, thus Murad’s speech showed his opposite stance on the issues of women's participation in politics and social activities, according to the complaint.

"We believe any educational institution is a sacred place. And it is the responsibility of all citizens to maintain a boundary while commenting on the character of another citizen," Julius added.
