DUFS film fest kicks off on Wednesday

Dhaka University Film Society (DUFS) is all set to host the 20th edition of the largest festival of Bangla language films ‘Amar Bhashar Chalachchitra 1428’ on Wednesday at the TSC premises of Dhaka University.

The five-day-long film festival will start from February 22 continue till February 26, read a press release issued on Tuesday.

The festival will commence with the screening of Satyajit Ray directed film ‘Agantuk'.

The day will also feature the screening of Giasuddin Selim directed ‘Monpura’ at 1:00pm, Masud Hasan Ujjal directed ‘Unoponchash Batash’ at 3:30 pm and Abdullah Mohammad Saad directed ‘Rehana Maryam Noor’ at 6:30pm.

Dhaka University Film Society (DUFS) has successfully organised 19 editions of this festival since 2002 with the aim of commemorating the great martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the Bangla language and promoting Bangla cinema to film enthusiasts.

Due to the pandemic, the event was postponed last year.

During the five-day festival, 19 contemporary and classic feature films, and one documentary will be screened this year including-‘Nonajoler Kabbo', ‘Raat Jaga Phool’, ‘Lal Moroger Jhuti’, ‘Mujib Amar Pita', ‘Chandrabati Kotha’ and others.

Aside from enjoying films, cinephiles will have the opportunity to exchange views directly with the film cast and crew. The ticket price of every show is only Tk 50 and will be available at the venue.

The screenings are open for all. People interested in attending the screenings are requested to maintain proper Covid safety guidelines.
