A Dhaka court has sent e-orange owner Sonia Mehjabin and her husband Masukur Rahman to jail in a case filed against the duo for embezzling Tk 1,100 crore.
The couple surrendered before the court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Bakar Siddique on Tuesday and appealed for bail.
However, after a hearing, the court rejected the bail plea and ordered them to be sent to jail.
Earlier on August 17, a group of disgruntled consumers of the e-commerce platform lodged the case with Gulshan police station in the capital.
Sonia, her husband Masukur, Amanullah, Bithi Akhter, and Kawser were made accused in the case.
Meanwhile, more than a hundred agitated customers on Monday demonstrated in front of the office of e-orange at Gulshan-2 intersection, protesting the company’s failure to deliver products.
