The government is likely to ease the ongoing lockdown restrictions from July 15, according to cabinet division sources.

The ease of restriction may include resumption of public transport operations, reopening of malls and shops, and cattle markets for Eid-ul-Azha.

Earlier on July 1, the government imposed a seven-day nationwide strict lockdown to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Later, the lockdown was extended till July 14.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh on Sunday registered 230 more deaths and 11,874 cases from Covid-19, its highest number of single-day deaths and cases since the pandemic hit the country last year.

The latest figures have pushed the local death toll to 16,419 and the caseload to 10,21,189, the Directorate General of Health Services said in a press release.
