Election Commissioner Md Anisur Rahman has expressed his optimism that over 50 per cent of votes could be cast in the 12th parliamentary election.
Talking to journalists after casting his vote at the Dhaka City College polling centre at around 8:30am in the morning, he said, "I hope that over 50 per cent of the votes will be cast."
Voting began at 8am in 299 out of 300 seats in the national election as polling in the Naogaon-2 constituency was earlier suspended due to the death of a candidate, reports BSS.
The polling will continue till 4pm.
