The Election Commission (EC) has cancelled Awami League aspirant and current lawmaker of Chattogram-16 (Banshkhali) constituency Mustafizur Rahaman Chowdhury’s candidacy in the 12th National Election.
EC Secretary Md Jahangir Alam made the disclosure on Sunday afternoon, adding that the candidacy of Mustafizur has been cancelled as he violated electoral code of conduct and the law.
Considering the circumstances, the commission decided to cancel his candidacy at 3:45pm Sunday. Mustafizur was earlier sued over allegations of breaching the electoral code of conduct.
