Election Commissioner Rashida Sultana on Tuesday said that the detailed investigation report on the irregularities in the Gaibandha-5 constituency by-poll has been submitted to the Election Commission (EC).
"I have received the investigation report on the irregularities in the by-election to the Gaibandha-5 constituency. However, we have not discussed it yet," she said while talking to the journalists at her office at the Nirbachan Bhaban in Dhaka.
Rashida Sultana also said that discussions over the investigation report will be held within two days, hoping that the detailed information in the report will be disclosed next week.

Stating that the upcoming Rangpur City Corporation election will not be held like the Gaibandha by-election, the election commissioner said, "We do not want an election like Gaibandha in Rangpur."
She also said necessary instructions have been given to all concerned, including Returning Officer, to hold the Rangpur City Corporation election properly, adding that the incident that happened in Gaibandha was an isolated one.
"...But, later, Zilla Parishad, Pavartipur Municipality and Faridpur by-elections were held properly. No negative talk was anywhere," Rashida Sultana said, adding, "Elections are ongoing. The field administration is responding well."
