JKG Health Care Chairman Dr Sabrina Arif Chowdhury, who is now behind bars on charge of providing fake Covid-test reports, has been sued by the Election Commission (EC) over possessing more than one national identity (NID) cards.
Mohammad Momin Mia, election officer in Gulshan, filed the case with Badda police station.
Sabrina became a dual-voter by providing false information which is a violation of law, he said.
She might face imprisonment of maximum one year along with a fine if she is proven guilty under the National Identity Registration Act.
On July 12, Sabrina was arrested by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) over her alleged involvement in issuing fraudulent Covid-19 test reports. The health ministry, on the same day, suspended her as a cardiac surgeon at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases after the arrest.
Sabrina was sent to jail by a Dhaka court on July 20.
